Thymio II as mobile camera support

With the possibilities of mechanical attachment to the Thymio II, it can be used as a camera support to provide a somewhat more regular movement than can be done manually.

The most accessible camera is a cell phone. Here is a simple way to fix a phone to the Thymio II.

Items needed are an M8 screw more than 50 mm long with washers and nuts, an angle piece, a second smaller screw and nut, and a clip.

The M8 screw is used to attach the structure using the central hole of the Thymio II.
The angle piece is used to fix the clip in a vertical position. The angle piece can be bent if necessary to adjust the angle.
The clip is used to grip the phone. It should be neither too strong (damage to the phone) nor too weak. The phone must be protected. If the phone is touch-sensitive, it is better to use a plastic clip. Metal clips interfere with the use of the screen. The clip must be also the smallest possible, so as not to creating a structure which is too high and unstable.

The M8 screw is passed through the central hole of the Thymio II from below and then through a hole in the angle piece and made tight with a washer and nut. The clip is fixed to the vertical arm of the angle piece with the smaller screw and nut as shown in the following image:

The whole construction (with mobile phone) is as follows:

Here is a video of the construction and a simple sequence taken with Thymio II in movement. Note that low speeds give a somewhat jerky movement. Higher speeds are preferable and the rolling surfaces should be as smooth as possible.
