Newest Stable Release of Aseba doesn't work with Newest Updated Windows 8

We installed and ran the Newest Stable Release of Aseba, but it doesn't work with Newest Updated Windows 8. This is the first time we are trying to install the software on this computer, and it is not working. Upon initial installation we did get one error message pop up that it was unable to connect to the Thymio, but that's about it. I believe the playground works, but Aseba studio to program Thymio is not working. It will not even open.
