Hello,
I will try to find your problem.
When did you buy the robot and when was the last time you used it?
Did it work correctly when you bought it?
How long have you tried to charge it?
Can you try to press the "reset" button? (the small hole on the left side of the robot)
best regards
Hi,
Also if you use Windows you have to install Asebastudio to get the Thymio drivers installed.
Kind regards
I'm having the exact same issue that daniele mentioned with a Thymio. I tried pressing the reset button but it did not fix the issue. What was te fix for daniele?
Sometime in very deep discharge the Thymio don't "discuss" correctly with the computer and didn't get the power (USB protection).
I suggest to try to charge it with a USB wall charger (like many smartphone)
So, good news. I plugged Thymio with the USB outlet charger as you suggested. I left it like that for an hour or so. When I unplugged it, the behavior did not change, and I was concerned. Then I plugged it back into the computer, and it still did not react properly. I plugged it back to the wall charger and finally it started responding normally. I guess it just needed a little CPR! Thanks.
Same issue here. It may be because I tried to run the firmware updater with Aseba Studio open at the same time? The update never went true; I received an error message.
Any option to reset Thymio?
I wish I could, the firmware updater does not recognize Thymio anymore and I cannot run the upgrade. Thymio is stuck in a red state (attached to the mac or to a wall charger) with nothing happening (no button functions, no reset impact).
Strange.
When did you buy your robot?
How long has it been stuck in the red state? was it fully charged when you tried updating?
Does Aseba Studio detect it?
Do you have another micro USB cable to try? It could be a defective cable, so the communication cannot be established.
The robot is 2 years old, it is a Thymio II with the old wheels. It has been stuck on red for at least 4 hours and I think it was fully charged at the time of the update.
Neither Aseba Studio nor Firmware Updater recognize Thymio now, but it did before I try the update.
I did try another cable with the same result.
Update: After 1 night of rest (no charge), the robot behaviors changed:
- Connected to the computer: Red, showing battery charge at 1.5, no reactions.
- Connected to wall charger: Top yellow, bottom white, showing battery charge at 1.5, no reactions.
Ok, if your robot is 2 years old, the bootloader was different, that's why you can't restore it.
Send it back to us and we'll fix it (and put the new bootloader to avoid further problems).

Sorry for the inconvenience.
No problem. I will send Thymio today.
Thank you.
No, if you update the firmware correctly, with the robot fully charged, and with ONLY the firmware updater open, there won't be any problem.
Only if you have a problem, then send the robot to us :)
