I put a user prog (by flashing) to my Wireless Thymio II. It added the additional "colorless" mode. Choosing this mode the prog executes correctly. But I find no way to go back to the selection menu for the preinstalled progs.

The manual says: "Once this code is launched, the user cannot go back in the selection menu unless the robot is restarted."

Restart ("pushing" the central button for 3 secs…) does not help, resetting the device does not help too.

This is probably a unwanted behavior of the wireless….
I have not tested but probably the thymio is going into your programmed mode directly because there is still the dongle on your computer and an aseba trying to connect to it. In that situation Thymio go in the programed user mode. It is the same case if you have a second thymio in the same network that is around and that send messages…
Try without dongle or another Thymio

Thank you very much for your answer. Unpluging the wireless dongle solves the issue.

This work well for me, but i intend to use several Thymios in the classroom: The students could accidentally activate the colorless mode, and then all other Thymios have to be switch off and all dongles have to be removed.

In the forum ( Remove Custom Programm) I found, that the colorless can not be removed at all. In the same thread it is stated, that flashing the firmware (whith the same version) should remove the colorless mode. Should I try this or is this "dangerous" action?

There is a commit on github.com, which changes the behavour in the way that empty user progs are ignored. Therefor I flashed an empty user prog, but it seems that this patch is not included in the actual firmware.

Maybe one could add a warning (or a more detailed description) to the wikipage. Or can I do this a a normal wikidot user?

Hello,
I made some test with several Thymio firmware version 10.

• first you don't need to unplug the dongle if aseba is not launch, just not have any aseba or VPL running make the thing work.
• robot of one network are not influencing another, so you can really make it work in the classroom. PLease have a look here to configure each robot with one network: thymiosettingwireless
• colorless can be removed, just flash an empty code should work (load the empty code then flash)
• updating the firmware is not dangerous, if something go wrong, your Thymio go in a safe mode and there is still something to try to get it back.
• normally everybody could edit the wikipage
