Not sure what happened but it started working. Maybe it was not charged enough, despite having been plugged in via USB for an hour?

Not sure it is useful, but here is what got logged by dmesg when I tried unplugging+replugging it in:

Then Thymio-II became selectable in the list of serial ports.

I just bought a Thymio, and installed on Ubuntu (2016.04.1 Xenial LTS) using the PPA procedure described at https://www.thymio.org/en:linuxinstall . I made sure my current user is in the "dialup" group, and connected the Thymio using a USB cable to my laptop.

Problem: When I click the "Thymio VPL" icon, I receive this error:

Clicking "OK" makes this dialog appear:

None of the options work, I tried all of the items in the list (from ttyS0 to ttyS31).
Rebooting the computer and waiting for an hour does not solve the problem.
Even running "thymiovpl" via sudo does not solve the problem.
No luck after running "sudo systemctl stop ModemManager.service" either.
How to do?
