another user reported a similar problem; they managed to solve it by going to their system preferences > Security & Privacy > General and then open Thymio..

I downloaded the software for mac, dragged it into the Applications folder and now this error message:

“ThymioSuite” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software."
This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information.
