Thymio II in a kayak

This page presents Thymio II used to drive a kayak paddler, all based on a painted cardboard construction.

Here is the complete kayak:

To achieve it, the first step is to make the cardboard base. Here for example is the the hull of the cardboard kayak:

This has been achieved by simply pasting cut-out cardboard pieces to make the final form:

which was then painted and decorated:

The structure of the paddler is also quite simple:

A Thymio II has been fixed to the belly of the paddler. On each wheel is a flexible connection to the paddles, which are connected by a U-shaped piece to line them up:

Finally here is the painted paddler. For the white t-shirt a colour similar to that of Thymio II was chosen.

It can all be set in motion using the 'obedient' mode, which allows the use of a IR remote control. Here is the result in a video:
